Congressman Fred B. Rooney today praised a Post Office Department decision to construct a new post office at Brodheadsville in Monroe County as “continued evidence that the department recognizes the need for expanded and improved postal service in all areas of the nation.”

The new building in Brodheadsville will be located on Route 209, approximately 100 feet east of the existing post office. The government will lease the building at an annual cost of $2,040 on a five-year lease that has three five-year options. It will be constructed for $19,500 by Frank and Rose Cascario of Nesquehoning.

The new office is scheduled for completion by August of next year and will contain1,204 square feet on the inside, 120 square feet of platform area and 2,372 square feet of parking and maneuvering area outside.
