State Rep. Zach Mako, R-Lehigh/Northampton, recently announced he helped secure almost $1.27 million in Local Share Account grants from the Commonwealth Financing Authority for projects throughout the 183rd Legislative District.
Act 71 of 2004 provides for the distribution of LSA gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects of public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
“I’m pleased to work with Sens. Nick Miller and Jarrett Coleman to have each of these projects funded,” Mako said. “These funds will help repair or replace vital infrastructure and equipment used by municipalities and organizations to better serve our community. I am happy to help pursue this funding, as it would have been challenging to move forward without it.”
Local municipalities receiving LSA grant funding are:
• Lehigh Township: $245,000 to purchase a tandem dump truck fitted with a salt spreader and plow, which will replace a truck at the end of its usable life.
• Walnutport borough: $275,000 to replace the furnace in the town hall building that stopped functioning in 2023.
The 183rd House District includes Lowhill and North Whitehall townships and Slatington Borough in Lehigh County. It also consists of Allen, East Allen, Lehigh and Moore (part) townships, and Bath, North Catasauqua, Northampton and Walnutport boroughs in Northampton County.
