The Joint Operating Committee of the Carbon Career & Technical Institute of Jim Thorpe held a reorganizational meeting Thursday prior to the general monthly meeting.
First, the JOC welcomed two new members of the Committee: Michael Alabovitz, representing Panther Valley School District, who fills the unexpired term of Renee DeMelfi through December 2026, and April Walters, representing the Weatherly Area School District. The other three member are Gerald Strubinger, Jim Thorpe; Heather Neff, Lehighton; and, Alyson Krawchuk-Boschen, Palmerton.
The committee also welcomed five new alternate members: Christopher Fischl, Jim Thorpe School District; Dr. William Howland, Lehighton; Erin Snyder, Palmerton; Ron Yuricheck, Panther Valley; and Ryan Binder, Weatherly.
Heather Neff, from the Lehighton Area School District, was nominated and elected chairperson of the Joint Operating Committee. Alyson Krawchuk-Boschen and Gerald Strubinger were both nominated for vice chairperson. Krawchuk-Boschen was chosen by 3 votes to 2.
The committee also voted to continue holding the monthly meetings on the third Thursday of each month with an executive session at 5 p.m. and the regular meeting at 6 p.m.
