Palmerton Area School District administrators outlined a series of ongoing hiring efforts last week, detailing interviews and screening processes underway for vacancies spanning instructional, support and custodial positions.
Assistant Superintendent for Academic Programs and Technology Dr. Dan Heaney told the board the district is actively working to fill several roles across multiple buildings.
“We are currently interviewing candidates for our school social worker,” he said. “We are also seeking a first grade teacher and a high school special education teacher.”
Heaney noted while those postings technically closed, administrators “will still accept applicants.”
Elementary support staffing continues to be an area of need with “an instructional assistant position available.”
“We hope to start getting some of these interviews scheduled in the next week or so,” Heaney said on Nov. 25.
Custodial staffing shortages remain ongoing as well.
“We have two part-time custodian positions available and one full-time custodian position available.”
Substitute custodial applicants are also being brought in as they apply.
