Lehighton Band to hold annual Christmas Concert
Under the direction of Bradly R. Cressley, the Lehighton Band will present its annual Christmas Concert at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band Hall, 197 N. Sixth St., Lehighton.
Tickets may be purchased from any band member or at Carbon County Music and More, 197 N. Sixth St., Lehighton.
The program opens with “Westminster Carol,” arranged by James Hosay, a lively and traditional carol celebrating the season.
“Ring in the Joy,” arranged by James Swearingen, brings a festive and spirited opening to the holiday program. “An Irving Berlin Christmas,” arranged by Warren Barker, features beloved melodies from the legendary composer, sure to evoke warm memories.
Other highlights include “Dona Nobis Pacemby James Sudduth,” a peaceful and reflective piece; Leroy Anderson’s “Christmas Festival,” full of Anderson’s trademark whimsical energy; and “A Christmas Spectacular,” a rousing medley of seasonal favorites.
A special feature of the concert will be soloist Troy Heist, performing “Gabriel’s Oboe” from the motion picture “The Mission” on baritone saxophone — a rare and beautiful interpretation that adds a unique color to the program.
“On With the Snow” will include community singers performing joyful classics such as “Sleigh Ride,” “Winter Wonderland” and “Let It Snow!”, evoking the fun and excitement of a snowy holiday season.
The program continues with “The Wonder of Christmas,” arranged by John Moss and “Greensleeves” as performed by Mannheim Steamroller, arranged by Robert Longfield, combining traditional carols with contemporary flair.
The concert concludes with “Christmas Favorites,” arranged by James Swearingen, and the beloved sing-along “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
Seating will be arranged at tables, creating a welcoming and festive afternoon.
The Lehighton Band, older than the town itself, has continually performed for the community, delighting audiences for generations.
