Tamaqua Girl Scout earns Silver Award

Piper Harding, 15, of Tamaqua Girl Scout Troop 33013, recently received her Girl Scout Silver Award.

The Silver Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. It requires about 50 hours of work toward the project.

Harding’s project was focused on making improvements to the Tamaqua Community Garden. She removed old tire beds, planted several fruit bushes and rebuilt damaged raised vegetable beds.

She was able to obtain donations from Lowe’s, Home Depot and Pleasant Valley Landscaping for her project.

She also sold baked goods to raise money for additional materials.
