Carly Green, of Tamaqua, has been named a finalist in the Pennsylvania Farm Show’s annual National Anthem contest “O’ Say Can You Sing.”
Green is the daughter of Jason and Amy Green and the only finalist from Schuylkill County. She is a freshman at Marian Catholic High School and a member of the school’s marching band, soccer team, swim team, track team and the performing arts program.
Green was selected by a panel of judges and is now among the 20 finalists from all over Pennsylvania vying for the top 12 in order to sing the national anthem at the farm show. The annual event will be held Jan. 10 to 15 in Harrisburg.
While the first round was a judged contest, now it’s all about voting, which ends Tuesday.
Voting can be found on the Pennsylvania Farm Show’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BrjQFQv6F/
In the post, scroll down to Green’s video and “like” or “love” her comment. Only one vote per person, but anyone with a Facebook page can vote, including other members in the family.
The top 12 entrants, based on total reactions, will open each day of the Farm Show and Opening Ceremonies or other special events with the national anthem.
Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday.
Green is no stranger to singing at events. Previously, she sang the national anthem at the Schuylkill County Fair and school sporting events and also as a member of Spotlight Kidz, where she sang with the group at Phillies Citizens Bank Park, Yankee Stadium, Madison Square Garden and the Little League World Series.
