Summit Hill updates winter parking

Forecasts say a measurable snowfall could occur Tuesday, which means some new parking regulations will be in effect in Summit Hill.

In addition, the borough council recently put strong wording into its winter ordinance that prohibits anyone from throwing or plowing snow onto any borough street or dumping snow into any of the parks in the community.

Parking regulations remain the same as in the past on the main streets.

However, major changes were made in the parking rules for side streets.

On specific side streets, no parking will be permitted once snow accumulation reaches three inches or an icy situation exists.

The council said the streets where this applies are the narrow roads where it has been difficult in the past for plows and even garbage trucks to get through after a snowstorm.

The streets include:

• Richard Avenue,

• School Street,

• Summit Avenue,

• Union Street,

• Mill Street,

• Kline Street,

• Park Avenue,

• Burea Avenue,

• Carbon Avenue,

• Iron Street,

• McMurtrie Street,

• Ross Avenue.

In another borough maintenance related matter, the council said it plans to sell a 2004 Ford F-550 dump truck. Anyone interested in purchasing the vehicle, as is, can submit a bid by 4 p.m. on Dec. 9 at the borough hall.
