A spaghetti dinner hosted by an East Penn Township parish on Election Day raised funds for area veterans.
Dinkey Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ashfield has held its annual Election Day dinner for many years.
Kurt and Kathy Steigerwalt, Dinkey Memorial Lutheran Church, said that this year, the decision was made to donate the entire profit to Paul’s House Valor Foundation Clinic in Jonas.
Its sister church, St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mahoning in Lehighton, made and donated 400 meatballs and helped with cleanup.
Over 30 volunteers helped provide a variety of spaghetti dishes, a salad bar and various homemade desserts in serving 184 people.
With a $250 donation from Thrivent Financial for supplies, and an additional $250 donation, they were able to present a check for $2,163 to Valor Foundation to help provide for veterans in need.
