Dianne Pruitt, Tamaqua, was named 1981 Nurse of Hope by the Carbon-Tamaqua Unit of the American Cancer.

She will succeed her sister, Carol Ann Hoppes, in wearing the crown representing the society.

They are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hoppes of Tamaqua R.3 and Dianne is the wife of Kerry Pruitt.

The first alternate for 1981 is Donna Lee Koch of Parryville while the second alternate is Bonnie Paton of Summit Hill.

Mrs. Mary Schonberger, former directress of nursing at the Coaldale State General Hospital, is serving as chairwoman of the 1981 Nurse of Hope program. This year’s competition was sponsored by the Lansford Lions Club.
