The 8th Annual JT Turkey Trot 5K will be held Thanksgiving morning in Jim Thorpe.

Participants should meet outside Pocono Biking on Broadway and run or walk the out-and-back route on the D&L Trail. Runners will gather at 8:15 a.m., with the trot beginning at 8:30. The event is informal and times are not officially recorded, but homemade Thanksgiving pies made by Lori LaRizzio will be awarded to the first male and female finishers.

Donations will be collected to support Family Promise of Carbon County, a homeless shelter assisting local families in need.

Participants are encouraged to bring $5 or $10 to contribute to the cause before taking part in the holiday run.
