Letter to the editor: Real ID anything but easy

To Kelly, the writer who shared her story “Mission Accomplished”: you were really lucky in your quest for a real ID license. Last summer, I went to the Snydersville license center to get mine. I brought with me every document issued since the day of my birth. I too use my maiden name as my middle name, since my marriage. I even have a Social Security card with that name.

But the man who interviewed me DENIED MY APPLICATION. He said to apply for a passport, and if that is issued, he’d issue my Real ID. So, I was told to spend over $200 just to get my new license! This is outrageous.

I know it’s happening to hundreds, if not thousands, of married women in Pennsylvania. And it’s why I object to laws requiring Voter ID. Everything depends on the whim of a bureaucrat. And, I still don’t have my Real ID.
