Danyel M. Miller, 25, of Shenandoah, died in a three-vehicle crash at 5:49 p.m. Friday on Interstate 81 in Delano Township.
Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative of the Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office.
Injured in the crash were Rafael A. Ceballos, 28, of Hazleton, and Charvel Prophete, 42, of Columbus, Ohio. Police said they sustained suspected minor injuries.
Prophete was transported by personnel from the Shenandoah Community Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville, while Ceballos was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton, by personnel from the McAdoo Fire Company Ambulance Association.
Police said the crash occurred when Ceballos was driving a 2024 Honda Civic southbound and was traveling behind a 2024 International operated by Prophete and a 2016 Audi driven by Miller. They said the Civic passed an uninvolved vehicle on the west shoulder of the road, re-entered the roadway and struck the International and then the Audi.
Police said the Civic spun an unknown number of times and came to rest in the right lane of the interstate. The Audi left the east shoulder of the road, and rolled over a number of times while traveling down an embankment. The International came to a controlled rest on the west shoulder of the road.
Police said the Civic and Audi sustained disabling damages while the International had minor damages. All three vehicles were towed from the scene.
