ON THIS DATE NOVEMBER 14, 1962

John C. Ruggabar, coordinator of the self-help training program of the Department of Health, Harrisburg, was the guest speaker at the annual Civil Defense banquet held at the Summit Hill Rod and Gun Club.

The speaker noted Carbon County is one of the leading counties in civil defense in this part of the state.

An address was given by Fred Hart, assistant eastern C.D. director, who stressed the need for a family fallout shelter, showing slides on the subject.

John Markey served as general chairman of the banquet while Francis Boyle was the toastmaster and the welcome address was given by Mayor Louis D. Lisella.

Remarks were offered by Corvin Solt and George Samok, fire chiefs of Lehighton and Palmerton, respectively.
