Monroe County commissioners
The Monroe County commissioners approved the following items last week:
• Ratify the Opioid Grants from the Opioid Settlement Funds — Guardian Angel Recovery House, a memorandum of understanding and agreement in the amount of $10,000.
• Proposal from Richard Pierce Builders Inc. in the amount of $9,100 to repair slate on barn roof at the Monroe County Correctional Facility, and to install missing Dutch lap siding and plywood in the amount of $12,500 (lowest of three quotes).
• Uniforms: Starr Uniform Center for correctional officers, $118,015.15; deputy sheriff, $73,215.23; and bailiffs, $42,954.60; inmate uniforms and supplies: Bob Barker Co. Inc., $122,554.33.
• Fuel oil: Stiff Oil Co., fluctuating price at .53 markup per gallon for former jail, MCCF, magisterial district justices, District Attorney’s Office, and courthouse generator.
• Propane: Heller’s Gas Inc., $1.37 per gallon, fixed price for MCCF, Public Safety Center and Monroe Sewage Treatment Plant.
• Janitorial supplies: Administrative Center — Pennsylvania Paper and Supply, $46,240.25; W.B. Mason, $10,451.85; Central Poly Bag, $10,005; Pyramid School Products, $18,116.52; Brighter Days and Nites Inc., $1,759.45; Staples Contract and Commercial LLC, $7,233.15.
• Janitorial supplies: Correctional Facility — Pennsylvania Paper and Supply, $23,346.02; W.B. Mason, $12,346.34; Central Poly Bag, $4,360.20; Pyramid School Products, $13, 864.96; Brighter Days and Nites Inc., $91,626.82; Staples Contract and Commercial, $13,307.58.
• Office supplies from W.B. Mason, $79,835.55, and toner from IPS Global, $141,367.80.
• Snow removal at Administrative Center, former jail lot and Public Safety Center: Strauser Natures Helpers for snowplowing, $155 per hour; calcium chloride, $1,800 per ton; sodium chloride (rock salt), $325 per ton; cinders, $38.50 per ton; snow removal, $160 per hour; clear and salt all walkways, $65 per hour (Public Safety Center only).
• Add these vendors to the county list of approved vendors: District Attorney — Microtrace LLC (ratify), Devine Depositions LLC (ratify), and Dawn til Dusk; Emergency Management — Chery Industrial Inc.; Public Defender — Arnaldo Lopez Rivera, M. Sc.; Commissioners — AMZ Logistics LLC doing business as AMZ Housing Solutions.
• Accept proposal with Walker Consultants to provide professional consulting services for repairs to the county parking deck between Jan. 1, 2026, to Dec. 31, 2026, in the amount of $88,155;
• Ratify approval for the submission of the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Homeless Assistance Program/Human Services Development Fund Non-Block Grant report in the amount of $66,028 to HAP and $93,507 HSDF.
• CSBG 2025 Funds for Sub-recipient Re-Allocation: Safe Monroe — Returned $18,219 in unspent funds; Stroud Region Open Space and Recreation Commission — Returned $2,000 in unspent funds; CSS — Shepherd’s Maternity Home, $1,640; Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network, $2,550; Pocono Area Transitional Housing, $7,466; Pocono Services For Families and Children, $8,563.
• Information Technology and Services: Professional services proposal with Michael Baker International, $25,000 for GIS services from Nov. 5 to Nov. 4, 2026.
