Walnutport Borough Council

Walnutport Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Agreed to hire a contractor for up to $18,029 to clean out the garbage and debris located within 645 Gap St., as part of the blighted property litigation filed against the property so that the borough and conservator can complete an interior inspection of the home to prepare a final report for the court, and to direct the borough solicitor to take the necessary steps to file an appropriate municipal lien against the property for the costs thereof.

• Agreed to be added to the RAVE MOBILE SAFETY contract with The Walnutport Authority until the end of the contract on March 31, 2027, and to split the $3,100 cost, for which borough will pay about $1,600.

• Agreed to contact PPL Utilities to install six new streetlights. The lights would be for the 200 block of Birch Street; 500 block of Lehigh Gap Street; Second Avenue; 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue; 300 block of Fifth Street; and 300 block of Williams Avenue.

• Agreed to return a deposit for an extra recycling container and have extra container picked up.
