A Coaldale man was cited by Tamaqua police for allowing his dog to run at large in Coaldale.

According to police, a medium-sized dog owned by William Hilliard, 32, of the 100 block of West High Street, was observed leaving its property and entering a neighboring yard by going under a fence.

The dog was not under control at the time of the 4:11 p.m. Oct. 18 incident, which resulted in the citation.

Police said local ordinances require pet owners to maintain control of their animals at all times to ensure public safety and respect for neighboring properties. The citation, police said, serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible pet ownership within the community.
