More than 100 walkers spent an afternoon last year raising nearly $7,000 for Tamaqua area food pantries and ministries.
They were participating in the final event of the 2024 Tamaqua Community Hunger Campaign, which distributed more than $18,000 and 25 boxes and bags of food to Tamaqua’s four community food pantries.
This year’s Hunger Walk begins at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Tamaqua Arts Center. Registration starts at 1:30 p.m. Registration forms are available on the campaign website; search for “Tamaqua Hunger Campaign” online.
Individuals and teams are welcome to participate. Because it is a fundraiser, all participants are expected and encouraged to have sponsors.
Checks can be made payable to TAFFN or TACP.
The walk is the final event of the 14th annual Tamaqua Community Hunger Campaign, which benefits food pantries at American Primitive Methodist Church, Stokes Ministries, Trinity United Church of Christ and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
The pantries serve more than 700 families each month, and those numbers are expected to grow.
Donations are being accepted until Nov. 9 online or by mail to Tamaqua Hunger Campaign, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua, PA 18252.
