Palmerton Borough Council took the following actions last week:

• Approved a quote in the amount of $11,859 to Frable & Sons to upgrade the heating system inside the borough’s wastewater treatment plant. In colder temperatures, the borough has been having an issue with a pump freezing in one of its buildings. While the borough has been using a temporary heating method, this will be a permanent solution.

• Approved a resolution to apply for a Local Share Account grant for mobile and portable radios for the Palmerton Fire Department, Aquashicola Fire Department, Bowmanstown Fire Department and portable radios for the Palmerton Police Department.

• Accepted the resignation of Franklin Haas from the borough’s water department. The borough plans to advertise what position is available in the coming weeks, as it may not be a water company opening. The position would be filled through application and interview.

• Approved a request by the Borough of Lehighton for fire police assistance from the Palmerton Borough fire police for the Carbon County Veterans Day Parade at 2 p.m. Nov. 9.

• Announced that trick-or-treat night will be held in the borough from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
