Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Oct. 23 with 20 members present.
Vice President Eileen Keich opened the meeting. The invocation, “A Step or Two Away,” was read by a member.
A member won Halloween decorations for windows that were chanced off. Refreshments were served and the group enjoyed meatballs made by a member. Bingo was played.
The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.
Luncheon
A “Friendsgiving Luncheon” will be held at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 18 from Grace Evangelical Free Church, 10 Hollenbush Lane, Orwigsburg.
Judi Merrium of Trapper Lake, New York, will present “Freedom From Living Up to the Expectations of Others.” She will also provide music.
The special feature is a Christmas wrapping paper craft. The event is sponsored by Schuylkill Women’s Connection and Stonecroft Ministries.
Reservations are due by Nov. 12 by calling Michelle at 570-617-3896 or Sue at 570-617-9490. There is a fee.
Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Deb Rogers will bring the message at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley. It will have an emphasis for children. Communion will be included and special music will be presented. There will be no Sunday evening service.
Group prayer time will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Shoebox collection has started and the church is collecting items to fill Christmas shoebox gifts.
St. Peter’s — West Penn
The 9 a.m. Sunday service at St. Peter’s in West Penn will include Holy Communion for All Saints Sunday. Children will be dismissed after the children’s blessing. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m. and apple dumpling orders are due.
On Nov. 6, the Cherub Choir rehearses at 6 p.m. followed by the Senior Choir at 7 p.m.
There will be a pork and sauerkraut supper and bake sale from 3-7 p.m. Nov. 8.
Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors
The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens met on Oct. 28 with 38 members present.
President Jayne McLaughlin opened the meeting with the saying, “Halloween Is Coming.”
A member won a basket of goodies and lottery tickets that was chanced off. A fall wreath that was chanced off was won by another member.
Two members donated food, and the group welcomed a new member. There will be no meeting on Nov. 25, the day before Thanksgiving.
Bingo was played and the meeting closed. The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 11 at Christ Church in Barnesville.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown. Communion will be served. Sunday school is scheduled at 9:30 a.m.
Everyone is welcome to the social hall at noon for hot dogs and dessert, followed by a hay ride at 1 p.m.
