Reenactors in Monroe Saturday
The America250 PA in Monroe County is hosting the 24th Connecticut Militia Regiment for an encampment at the Carnival Grounds in Tannersville off Route 611.
Vice Chairman David Parker of the Monroe County commissioners announced the event at their meeting on Oct. 15. The encampment will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The event is free and will feature demonstrations of daily life during the Revolutionary War, such as military tactics and essential skills needed for that time period.
“I encourage you to come out and visit what a camp was like in the Revolutionary War era,” Parker said.
According to the America250 PA, there will be a free presentation titled “Connecticut’s Claim and the History of Fort Hyndshaw” by Danny Younger from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Pocono Township Building, 112 Municipal Lane, Tannersville.
Parker also mentioned that the Revolutionary War reenactors will be marching in the Monroe County Veterans Day Parade on Sunday.
“I urge you to come out and support that parade,” he said.
The parade starts at 1 p.m. at Stroudsburg High School, 1100 Main St., Stroudsburg, and runs to Dansbury Park, 15 Day St., East Stroudsburg. The rain date is Nov. 9.
The parade is sponsored by the Monroe County PA Veteran Association.
