October 27, 1979 — Joe Balas scores three first-half touchdowns to help Weatherly roll to a 36-0 Eastern Conference victory over Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech. The Wreckers score the only points they would need less than two minutes into the contest. A 20-yard run by Rich Bresnock and a 13-yard gain from Dan Hergert proceeds a 35-yard tally by Balas. After a CMVT fumble, Weatherly drives for another score — a 1-yard TD run by Balas — to extend the lead. Another turnover gives the Wreckers the ball and Balas caps an 81-yard drive with a 39-yard burst to the end zone. In the second half, Hergert adds a 30-yard scoring pass to Mike Kanyak and a 7-yard touchdown run.
