The Lehighton Area Leo Club members raised over $1,100 selling bagged peanuts at this year’s Carbon County Fair.
Members then presented a check in this amount for the Lion’s District 14-U pediatric cancer project.
The money will be forwarded by the district to the LVHN Reilly’s Children Hospital Pediatric Cancer Care Program to assist those families of children with cancer who need assistance with food, temporary housing, gas and other expenses.
The Lions Clubs of District 14-U previously donated $17,000 for new seating and child size toy equipment that will enable children to feel more comfortable when having to undergo procedures using actual equipment that can feel overwhelming.
A maximum of $1,000 can be received when financial need is determined by a social worker. Recipients must be from Carbon, Schuylkill, Monroe or Pike Counties.
The Lions of District 14-U recently established this Lions Patient assistance fund at the center by donating $10,000.
