October 21, 1977 — Dave Warner throws a pair of touchdowns passes and Lehighton’s defense allows just 53 yards of offense and no points in cruising to a 49-0 Centennial League victory over Northwestern. Warner connects with Larry Mertz on a 32-yard scoring toss in the opening quarter, and finds Kevin Snyder for another 32-yard TD completion in the second frame. The Indians, coached by Jimmy Wentz, lead 23-0 at the break but quickly extend the margin when Mertz returns the second-half kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown. Snyder tallies again from a yard out, while other TDs are scored by Kim Snyder and Greg Wentz on runs, and by Johnny Teresko on a pass from Steve Bottcher.
