A 61-year-old man from Jay, Maine, died in a one-vehicle crash at 8;34 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 81 in Frailey Township.

State police at the Frackville barracks said Scott J. McAlpine was pronounced dead at the scene.

They said he was driving a 2008 Chevrolet northbound when it left the roadway and traveled onto the left shoulder where it struck a rock embankment, went airborne and landed down an underpass of the twin bridges of Route 25.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
