October 18, 1985 — Garth Lakitsky carries 29 times for 145 yards and scores the go-ahead and eventual winning touchdown in the fourth quarter as Tamaqua gains a 14-7 victory over host Panther Valley. Lakitsky runs the ball on five of the seven plays during the drive that gives the Blue Raiders the lead with 8:49 left to play. A pass from Tom Butterworth to Tom Slover places Tamaqua at the PV 7-yard line, and two plays later Lakitsky reaches the end zone. Butterworth and Slover connect for a 29-yard TD toss in the first half for the winners, coached by Tom Bonner. For the Panthers, Paul Goida scores on a 2-yard run while Matt Karnish intercepts four passes on defense.
