LEHIGHTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
Lehighton Borough Council took the following action this month:
• Agreed to purchase two new vehicles for the borough police department at a total cost of $140,000;
• Accepted Pioneer Metal Roofing’s proposal for L & P building roof snow guards in the amount of $5,000 and pent roofs in the amount of $12,000;
• On a 6-1 vote, agreed to hire Barry Isett and Associates as special project engineer for the remainder of the 2025 year. Councilwoman Autumn Abelovsky was opposed. Barry Isett and Associates 2026 municipal engineering services will be expensed to the borough when it spends the money in 2026;
• Accepted the letters of intent to retire from Denise Niehoff, borough billing office, and Doris Venuto, part-time police clerk, both effective on Oct. 31;
• Agreed to advertise for a part-time administrative assistant at the police station at the rate of $18 per hour;
• Approved the dissolution of unopened Queen Alley, south of Bridge Street, at no cost to the borough;
• Agreed to have the property 70A-9-M36 (on Summit Avenue across from the day care center) to be sold separately;
• Approved a resolution, destruction of Civil Service Commission retention;
• Agreed to donate $500 to the Halloween parade to support band expenses;
• Accepted the Lehighton Fire Department’s request for use of property on Oct. 25 for parking and donation collection at the former treatment plant property;
• Accepted Boldly Rotted Inc.’s request for use of property on Nov. 8 for Fall Fest at the Amphitheater, and;
• Accepted LDI’s application for use of property on Dec. 12, 2026, for Hometown Vintage Christmas at Lower Park, North Street, and South Street.
