State police at Fern Ridge report on traffic incidents

State police at Fern Ridge have reported on the following traffic incidents:

• No one was hurt when a vehicle rolled over after a crash at 11:29 p.m. June 17 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township. State police said Lorraine Arocho, 55, of Effort, was driving the 2008 Jeep Liberty when it failed to negotiate a curve in the road and struck a boulder on the side of the roadway, then rolled over because of the impact. Arocho and a 17-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the vehicle, escaped injuries. She was cited for the incident.

• Police charged Thomas Kyne of Bangor with criminal mischief after an incident at 1 a.m. Saturday at the Silver Valley Campground in Chestnuthill Township. Police said he intentionally struck the front of a 2018 Honda Odyssey with his 2018 Ford F-250. The Honda is owned by Madhukar Kuntamukkala of Monroe, New Jersey. Police said Kyne admitted to the offense, saying he committed it because the Honda was blocking the road inside the campground and he had to use the bathroom.

• Michael A. Hower, 50, of Kunkletown, sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 10:49 a.m. July 12 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township. Police said he was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg, in the West End Ambulance. Police said he was driving a 2016 Kia Rio northbound on Route 115 and was stopped for a red light at the intersection with Route 209 when a 2016 International Harvester operated by Edward Gaffin, 44, of Saylorsburg, failed to stop in time and struck the rear bumper area of Rio, pushing it off the roadway. Gaffin was uninjured.

• State police said the operator of a vehicle that crashed at 5:57 p.m. July 13 off State Route 715 in Jackson Township will face charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Police did not identify the driver but said the vehicle was a 2016 Jeep Wrangler that was traveling too fast for conditions near the intersection with Running Valley Road. The vehicle struck a boulder in a yard, coming to rest on top of it and resulting in functional damages to the vehicle. The driver was uninjured but was found slumped over the wheel of the vehicle. The car was towed from the scene.

• State police arrested Rohan Ricardo George Reid, 38, of Wilkes-Barre, on drug possession charges after a traffic stop at 7:55 p.m. June 14 on Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township. Police said Reid was stopped for a window tint violation, after which time he advised the trooper he had marijuana in his vehicle. A search of the car yielded seven grams of crack cocaine and four grams of marijuana.
