The 52nd Annual Shower of Roses was held yesterday in the community of New Columbus in Nesquehoning with more than 1,000 persons in attendance.

Victoria Ann Malaska, 14, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Malaska of 141 East Garibaldi Avenue, Nesquehoning, was crowned Rose Queen. She was accompanied by Rose Princess Gena Marie Damiano, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Baptist Damiano of 40 East Diaz Avenue, Nesquehoning.

The event, established by the Rev. Msgr. Agnello J. Angelini, pastor, more than a half century ago, honors St. Therese, “The Little Flower of Jesus.”
