Five area volleyball teams posted win on Tuesday.
Picking up the victories were Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, Marian, Northwestern and Panther Valley.
VOLLEYBALL
Jim Thorpe-Catasauqua
Jim Thorpe earned a Colonial League volleyball win over Catasauqua, claiming the final two sets to close out the victory.
Remy Gorski led the Olympians with 11 kills, five aces and six digs, while Kimora Seales-Griffith added 11 kills and four blocks.
Setter Maura Malaska distributed 33 assists to go along with 14 digs and five aces, while Lilly Outwater contributed 10 digs and three aces for Thorpe.

Lehighton earned its second consecutive sweep in Colonial League action, dispatching Pen Argyl.
Autumn Clewell led the Indians with 22 assists, 10 digs, two aces, two kills and two blocks. Aleea Yeakel added 26 digs and two aces, while Alexis Holben finished with 20 digs.
Breanna Demage contributed eight digs and four aces, while Julianna Lucykanish tallied six kills. Sophia Serfass chipped in five kills, while Allison Solt added four kills and two blocks. Maddie Serfass collected seven digs and an ace.

Marian sent its upperclassmen out with a win on Senior Night, as the Fillies gained a Schuylkill League sweep of visiting Minersville.
Senior Lara Cancio paced the Fillies with nine kills, while classmate Alena Lombardo chipped in with six.
Other upperclassmen who played a key role in the victory were Isabella Horvat (two kills, eight aces, five digs), Caydense Smith (seven aces, eight digs) and Eris Hayes (14 assists, four aces).

Northwestern rolled to a Colonial League sweep of Palmerton.
Leah Nagle paced the Tigers with nine kills and 10 digs, while Kayla Schaffer tallied 25 assists and 12 digs. Lexi George added 25 digs for Northwestern.

Panther Valley pushed its winning streak to four, as the Panthers swept past Tamaqua in Schuylkill League action.
Morgan Orsulak powered the Panthers, posting 18 kills, 11 assists, five digs and two service points. JaeLynn Browdy added 16 assists, 10 service points, eight kills, four digs and two aces.
For the Blue Raiders, Millie Black finished with six kills, four digs and two blocks, while Madison Schock recorded nine assists, six digs, three kills and three aces.

Maddox Day scored a goal in each half to help Jim Thorpe gain a 5-0 Colonial League win over Lehighton.
Blaze Flyzik and Matteo Cacco both posted first-half goals, while Kayden Spence tallied in the second.
The Olympians’ Liam Off made four saves to earn the shutout, while Indians’ keeper CJ Strohl finished with 16 saves.

Wesley Urban and Aaron Brayford both scored two goals for the Spartans.
Chase Haubner accounted for the Colts’ only tally, as he opened the second half with a goal.

Palmerton’s Connor Hibell scored the win in boys Colonial League action.
Hibell crossed the line in 17:03.52. Lehighton placed two runners in the top-five, with Elijah Pagotto (18:17.10) and Quinn Heimbach (18:40.01) third and fifth, respectively.
Jim Thorpe’s Logan Gillespie led a trio of area runners in the top-five in the girls race. Gillespie crossed the line in 21:23.41 to place third, while Lehighton’s Claudia Pagotto (22:01.20) and Northern Lehigh’s Emma Heil (22:13.59) were fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Northwestern boys and girls cross country team combined for an overall record of 5-3 during a Colonial League meet.
Rosalia Nestor led the way for the Tigers, crossing the finish line in third place in a time of 19:18.23. Teammate Katie Furman placed 15th.
Northwestern’s Noah Griffith earned a top-10 finish, as he placed 10th, while Jonathan Fornauf ended in 15th place.

Pleasant Valley closed out the regular season with a loss, as Stroudsburg blanked the Bears 3-0 in EPC action.
Despite the loss, Bears goalie Emilynn Stipeck set a new school record. With 18 saves in the contest, Stipeck finished the season with 209 – which broke the previous school record of 205.
Darby Rusk paced the Mounties with a goal and an assist, while both Leanna Neri and Alexis Shallop also scored for the winners.

Taylor Moyer, Lilyanna Suarez, Mylee Lutsko, Avery Bauder all added a goal for the Indians, who won four of their last five games.
The Tribe’s Leah Uyvari added an assist in the win.

Four different players scored two goals as Northwestern posted a 12-0 Colonial League win over Catasauqua.
Sophia Schaffer, Kiersten Klein, Lexi Zentz and Juliet Snyder all tallied twice for the unbeaten Tigers.
Schaffer also recorded a pair of assists.
