The Jim Thorpe Area School District Board of Education has hired six new teachers who are assigned to district schools.

They include: Natalie Tennant, Palmerton, who will serve as the K-6 guidance counselor; Darryl Seiwell, Lehighton, teacher of general music in grades 7-12; Leanne Tomanchek, Jim Thorpe, who will teach home economics in grades 7-12; Patricia Kane, Tamaqua, teacher of German and French in grades 5-8; Kevin Gladfelter, who has been assigned to teach math in grades 7-12; and Anthony Forte, Tamaqua, teacher of health and physical education in grades K-6 and in the 8th and 12th grades.

Seiwell will also handle the chorus and assist with the band.
