Tamaqua police log

Tamaqua police reported on the following incidents:

• A Tamaqua woman is free on unsecured bail after borough police said she assaulted two people just after 1 a.m. Sept. 27.

Hannah Winter, 21, faces charges of simple assault and harassment.

According to police, officers were sent to the unit block of Hunter Street for a disturbance involving multiple people. Police spoke to Winter and a man who said they had been drinking and arguing and were going to take a walk.

Police said Winter then began grabbing the man, which caused minor scratches and his shirt to rip.

When a woman attempted to get the man away from Winter, police said Winter bit her in the right hand.

Winter then kicked the woman multiple times, police said. The woman was treated at the scene for a cut.

Police was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Andrew J. Serina, who set bail at $5,000 unsecured.

• Police charged Juan Negron, 48, of Coaldale, with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly fought with a man around 4 p.m. Sept. 26.

Police were called to a home on the 200-block of West Early Avenue in Coaldale for a report of a domestic dispute.

Officers said the victim had a bleeding wound on the right side of his face, and a bruise on his upper right cheek.

The man told police that he was assaulted by Negron.

As police spoke to the man, they said Negron began shouting at them. Negron said that he and the man got into verbal and physical altercations and claimed that he was defending himself when the victim swung at him.

The man told police that he and Negron were arguing when Negron threatened to get a knife. He said that Negron hit him on the side of the head with a broom handle.

Negron was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Andrew J. Serina on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was able to post $5,000 bail.
