Local Roundup: Results from Sept. 29

Pleasant Valley posted wins in three different sports on Monday.

The Bears defeated East Stroudsburg South in field hockey, Pocono Mountain West in girls soccer, and Pocono Mountain East in volleyball.

FIELD HOCKEY

Oley Valley-Northwestern

Taylor Langley’s goal with 8:19 left in overtime lifted Northwestern to a 2-1 non-conference victory over visiting Oley Valley.

The Tigers’ Hannah Gober assisted on the game-winning tally. Earlier in the contest, Gober accounted for the goal that tied the score at 1-1 in the third period.

Haley Kerschner also added an assist for Northwestern.

Bangor-Palmerton

A first-quarter goal by Bangor stood up, as the Slaters gained a 1-0 Colonial League win over Palmerton.

Maddy Mera scored in the opening period to give the visitors an early start. The defenses took over from there, as no other shots found the back of the cage.

On Wednesday, Palmerton returns to action as it hosts Northern Lehigh in another league contest.

Two goals in the third period helped Pleasant Valley earn a 2-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over East Stroudsburg South.

Lexi Green led the way for the Bears, scoring the game’s first goal and assisting on the other score.

PV’s Celia Gavinovich accounted for her team’s other tally.

Blue Mtn.-Northwestern

Blue Mountain registered a hard-fought non-league sweep of Northwestern.

Leah Nagle paced the Tigers with seven kills and 18 digs, while Alexa George chipped in with 25 digs.

Northwestern also received 22 assists and nine digs from Kayla Schaffer.

Pleasant Valley needed an extra set, but the Bears knocked off Pocono Mountain East in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference action.

Isabella Slizewski was strong at the net for PV, as she finished with 11 blocks and eight kills.

Rylee Ruggiero also excelled with 12 kills, eight blocks and 20 digs.

Tamaqua gained a non-league sweep of host Catasauqua.

Mille Black paced the Blue Raiders with eight kills, six digs and three aces, while Isadora Neifert added six kills.

Tamaqua’s Leah Black also finished with five kills, five digs and four aces.

Palmerton posted a 2-0 Colonial League win over Jim Thorpe.

Devlin Moyzan accounted for both of the Blue Bomber goals, while Brett Smith assisted on one of the tallies.

Palmerton keeper Kurt Jedrejczyk made 12 saves to earn the shutout victory.

PV’s Lexi Krasniqi added two goals, while Payton Shillady and Peyton Foder both added single scores.
