Two Summit Hill residents yesterday filled out the 38,000th marriage application recorded in the Orphans Court Division of the Carbon Court.

The application was filed in the office of Geza E. Holczman, Register of Wills.

Bestowed the honor of the application were Stephen Joseph Figura and Linda Louise Grosso, who will be married on Saturday.

The first marriage license application in Carbon County was by Attorney Laird H. Barber, East Mauch Chunk, and Elizabeth Butler, Mauch Chunk. They filed the application on October 1, 1885, and were married by the Rev. Marcus A. Tolman, rector of St. Mark’s Church.

Attorney Barber later became Judge of Carbon County and died on February 16, 1928.
