September 27, 1991 — Lehighton’s Mike Gombert scores a late touchdown to help the Indians fend off a Pleasant Valley upset bid and gain a 13-12 Centennial League victory. Three plays after Lehighton’s Terry Blair recovers a fumble deep in his team’s own territory to stop a possible PV score, Bob Eckhart throws a pass that Gombert goes up in a crowd to get. After coming down with the ball, he runs over a Bear tackler and races the rest of the way to the end zone for the go-ahead score with 3:15 to play. Chris Green then intercepts a pass on defense to seal the win. Eckhart also throws a 4-yard TD toss to Kyle Williams, while Sloan Burnett accounts for both PV scores.
