Monroe County Commissioners
Monroe County Commissioner Sharon Laverdure reminded the public about public safety day during the meeting last week.
“It’s important for the community to know,” she said.
Public Safety Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 27 at the Monroe County Public Safety Center on Gypsum Road.
“There’s special activities for families, children, adults, a lot of learning experiences being able to connect with our safety helpers here in Monroe County,” Laverdure said. “That’s a really important item to try to get on your calendar.”
Laverdure also wanted to make people aware of the 250 miles for 250 years race. It is an initiative brought by America250PA Monroe County. She said that people who like to run or walk can sign up and log in their miles with the goal being to get to 250 miles walked or run by our nation’s 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026.
