For the endless hours of time spent in its construction and his many years of invaluable service to Polk Township, the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company substation in Jonas was dedicated to Ed Arnold.
Recognized as well during the ceremonies held at the substation were his wife, Elsie, and all 20-year firefighters, to whom the most recently acquired truck was dedicated.
They include Arnold, Al Keller, Rich Beck, Clarence Hawk, Ken Hawk and Barry Borger.
Arnold’s many years of hard work and dedicated service included serving as fire chief and continuing for 11 years in that capacity, according to Bill Tippett, Polk’s assistant chief.
The fire company, organized in 1969, purchased the substation’s 2-acre plot, and the building groundbreaking ceremonies were celebrated on June 25, 1995.
