Weatherly library

The Weatherly Area Community Library has announced the following events:

Book sale room: The book sale room is now accepting book donations. All donated books should be in good condition for resale at the library. However, some books may be kept at the library for public use. The public is also invited to visit and purchase used books any time the library is open.

The grand opening celebration for the book sale room will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 18.

Textbooks and encyclopedias are not accepted at the library; however, the Weatherly Area School District is asking for encyclopedias from 2010 to the present.

If you have a set of encyclopedias that you would like to donate, contact Katie Leach, history teacher, at Weatherly Area Middle School, 570-427-8687. The encyclopedias should be dropped off at the Weatherly Elementary School entrance.

Raffle and auction: On Oct. 4, the Weatherly Area Community Library will hold its annual Basket Raffle and Silent Auction. Preview night is 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 3.

The raffle and auction will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Packer Township Municipal Building, 2234 Hudson Drive, Weatherly, and will feature clocks painted by students from the Weatherly Area School District. During the auction there will be food and refreshments.

This year, the library has a special way for people to help the library with a creative donation for the auction. The library has eight wreaths that are 18 inches in size and are ready to decorate with creative ideas for the winter season or holidays celebrated in the winter. Just pick up a wreath at the library then return it decorated by noon on Sept. 27. Contact the library for more information.
