September 9, 1989 — Marian receives touchdowns from five different players to help earn a 34-13 victory over North Schuylkill. Four of the scores come on the ground as the Colts, coached by Stan Dick (Dakosty), rush for 320 yards in the contest compared to just 14 for the Spartans. After Joe Marsilio tosses a 45-yard first-quarter touchdown pass to Joe Richards to open the scoring, the winners stick primarily to the run game. Mark Hrebik ups the lead with an 18-yard TD run. Following a North Schuylkill tally, the Colts use scoring runs by Brian Rafferty, Joe Gillespie and Lou Hirochek to secure the victory. Gillespie ends with 111 yards on 15 carries.
