The Rev. Thomas F. Irwin Jr. of Springfield, a Philadelphia suburb, was installed yesterday as the new pastor of the Ben Salem-St. John’s Lutheran Parish.

The installation took place at the Ben Salem Church in East Penn Township. St. John’s is in Mahoning Township.

The Rev. Paul H. Spohn, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lehighton, was the officiating minister.

Rev. Irwin was selected to succeed the Rev. Charles Kampmeyer in June and has been serving the two churches since that time. Rev. Kampmeyer accepted a call to St. John’s Church, Jim Thorpe.

Rev. Irwin is a graduate of the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia.
