Palmerton School Board
Palmerton Area School District’s board of directors approved several personnel moves, contracts, and policy updates during its regular meeting Tuesday.
The approvals included:
• Accounts payable and treasurer’s reports.
• Tuition reimbursements.
• Change order for West Side Electric Service, decreasing the weight room renovation project contract by $10,235 due to unused allowance money.
• Alexandra Sabino as long-term substitute Grade 3 teacher at S.S. Palmer Elementary, Master’s Step 1, with an annual salary of $54,191, effective Aug. 18.
• Brandi Hoffman as high school learning support teacher, Bachelor’s Step 1, with an annual salary of $52,301, effective Aug. 18, pending emergency certification.
• MaryEllen Rhoads, food service worker, $17.04 per hour.
• Employee #879 for a health sabbatical leave effective Aug. 18, not to exceed one school term.
• Contracted crossing guard employment agreements for 2025-26.
• Nicole Smith as a substitute teacher effective Aug. 20.
• Resignation of Rachel DeMicco, instructional assistant, effective Aug. 8.
• Resignation of Tracy George, part-time custodian, effective Aug. 10.
• Bus routes for the 2025-26 school year.
• A list of George’s Transportation bus drivers for the 2025-26 school year.
• Second reading and adoption of 22 policies, including student expression, controlled substances, fundraising, class trips, and threat assessment.
• The repeal of three policies including Student Accident Insurance (#211), Grading of Student Progress (#213), and Students & the Police (#225).
