Walnutport Borough Council took the following action last week:
• Approved the replacement of three air conditioning units for Council Chambers, zoning/tax collector’s office, and water/sewer office at $13,700.
• Approved borough grant coordinator Mike Wentz to apply to Lehigh Northampton LSA grant for police equipment for up to $500,000, and Monroe LSA road equipment grant for up to 1 million.
• Reduced the speed limit from 35 to 25 mph, except on Main Street. The 35 mph signs will be refaced with the 25 mph.
• Announced that residents will be able to sign up for the alerts for the CodeRed system from the new fall newsletter. The CodeRed system, is a high-speed mass notification system used by government to send out emergency alerts to residents via phone, text, and email.
• Waived the fee for the Northern Lehigh PTO on Sept. 12 to rent the pavilion at 215 Lincoln Ave. Councilwoman Jen Wentz abstained from the vote.
