Man sentenced in Schuylkill Co. drug cases

A Schuylkill County man was sentenced in four different drug cases. Russell Gernert IV, 45, of New Ringgold, was sentenced to 15 years, eight months to 31 years, four months on a variety of drug-related charges in four cases filed by three police departments in 2024.

In the first case, Judge Christina Hale sentenced Gernert to six to 12 years in state prison on a charge of possession of firearms prohibited leveled by state police at Schuylkill Haven for an incident Feb. 28, 2024.

In that case, he was also sentenced concurrently to: 30 to 60 months on a charge of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance; 6 to 12 years on another charge of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and 12 to 14 years on another charge of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

In the second case, he was sentenced to 4 to 8 years by Judge Hale in state prison on a charge of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance leveled by state police at Schuylkill Haven in an incident March 15, 2024.

He was also sentenced concurrently to 4 to 8 years on another charge of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

In the third case, Judge Hale sentenced Gernert to 4 to 8 years on a charge of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance made by Schuylkill Township police for an incident Feb. 7, 2024.

He was also sentenced concurrently to 4 to 8 years on another charge of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance; 20 to 40 months on another charge of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance; 3 to 6 months on another charge of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and 4 to 8 months on another charge of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

In the fourth and final case, Judge Hale sentenced Gernert to 20 to 40 months in state prison on a charge of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance leveled by Blythe Township police for an incident Sep. 5, 2024.

He was also sentenced by Judge Hale concurrently to: 20 to 40 months on another charge of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and 6-12 months on a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.

Kevin Colt, 35, of Frackville, was sentenced by Judge Frederick Hobbs to 8 ½ to 17 years in state prison on four counts filed by state police at Frackville.

He was sentenced to 2 ½ to 5 years each on three counts of aggravated harassment by a prisoner, and to 1 to 2 years on a charge of simple assault.

Colt will also have to pay $1,600.
