The Blessings Room opens at Faith Alive Church
Those with a need of food or clothing, or who know of others in need, are fortunate to have a place to go.
The Blessed to Bless Ministry presents The Blessings Room at Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton.
Anyone with a need of food or clothing, or who know of others in need, are encouraged to visit The Blessings Room (previously the Chapel Room) and take what is needed, no judgments.
They just ask visitors to help keep the room neat and organized by leaving it as it is found, and also ask for anonymous sign in to help them track its usage.
The Blessings Room is open to all Faith Alive Attendees at their convenience.
Jan Lazarchak, who is in charge of the Women’s Ministry at Faith Alive Church, explained how The Blessings Room came to be.
“I had been very active in helping out at the Shepherd’s Closet in Weissport, a combined ministry of several churches,” Lazarchak said. “That board that ran that were all becoming older and having difficulty keeping up with things.”
Lazarchak noted that about a year-and-a-half ago, Blue Mountain Community Church in Palmerton purchased The Gathering Place Mission, which housed The Shepherd’s Closet in Weissport, and are still in the midst of renovations.
“In that absence, I continued to get the clothing that was there out of there and redistribute it to various places that had a need such as Valor (Clinic), Pennsylvania Adult and Teen Challenge, and The Redeemer’s Closet in Slatedale, and even some of the high schools that were collecting clothing (Northern Lehigh and Nazareth high schools),” she said. “We still had an abundance; I had a burden on my heart to get this back open, and I approached my church board at Faith Alive and we found a nice room which was formerly the Chapel Room, did renovations, the furniture that was housed in there we distributed to another church that was opening up, did some painting, got some racks and put it together.”
Lazarchak said that The Blessings Room opened June 1, and is essentially a small food pantry and clothing all in one ministry.
“We have had quite an uptick of people in need of food and clothing,” she said, adding that anyone within Faith Alive Church that has access to the church that know people who need clothing may bring them in at their convenience. “It is not just for church members; we really want other people to contact us if they have a need.”
Lazarchak noted that they will be changing over to fall clothing by Aug. 25.
She added they do have a 24-hour small blessings community box outside of The Blessings Room.
Gently used clothing donation is graciously accepted by appointment only.
Be sure to adhere to their no drop offs policy.
