O’Gurek named Marian Catholic athletic director

Marian Catholic High School has named Billy O’Gurek Jr. as its new athletic director, succeeding Peter J. Sanfilippo IV, who stepped down this summer after five years in the position.

A 2001 Marian graduate, O’Gurek was a four-year member of the Colts football team and also played baseball, helping both programs win district championships. He graduated from King’s College in 2005 and has worked for the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General since 2006. O’Gurek has coached football for the past nine years and is entering his second season as Marian’s head coach. He has served as treasurer of the Blue and Gold Club since 2017.

Acting Head of School Joseph Shadid said O’Gurek brings “a vision of dynamic, servant leadership” and a commitment to continuing and building upon the school’s athletic tradition.
