Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on July 31 with 23 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting. The invocation “Simplicity” was read.

Refreshments were served. The group received ice cream and a Tamaqua Senior cup. The meeting closed and bingo and cards were played.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Andreas VFW

The Andreas VFW will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 13 at West Penn Park. A banquet will be held Sept. 13 at Knepper’s Inn on Route 309. Reservations for members and one guest must be made by Sept. 6. Call 570-386-2133.

St. Peter’s West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will have a Joyous Noise offering. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.

The September newsletter deadline is Tuesday. The prayer group meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Retirees will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Adult Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Calvary Lewistown

Keith Seigfried will be the guest speaker at the 11 a.m. Sunday service of Calvary Evangelical Church to be held at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road. Siegfried is a member of the Mended Heart Gospel group of Pine Grove and will provide special music. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m.

The Wednesday prayer group will be held at 7 p.m. at the tabernacle.

All are invited to enjoy the refreshing surroundings of the hilltop and worship Jesus.
