Lehighton superintendent overseeing CCTI committee
Lehighton Area School District Superintendent Jason Moser was named superintendent of record for Carbon Career & Technical Institute, Jim Thorpe, when the its joint operating committee met last week.
The appointment will run from now through July 31, 2026, and comes at the established per meeting stipend of $150. Payment will be based on attendance at regularly scheduled committee meetings (12 per year) and will be paid in full following the completion of the appointed term.
Daniel Malloy, Weatherly Area School District superintendent, thanked the committee upon concluding his term as superintendent of record.
“Thank you to everyone for allowing me to be a part of the process,” Malloy said. “it was very nice to have insight into how CCTI educates the district students.”
He said he was grateful to be part of the graduation ceremony and he appreciated working with everyone.
Meanwhile, in personnel matters, the committee took the following actions:
• Reappointed Tara Benyo as the student success coordinator, effective Aug. 21 for the 2025-26 school year. The position is partially funded through the Perkins grant.
• Approved Brian McGinley and John Sabo as building substitutes, effective Aug. 21 through the close of the 2025-26 school year.
• Appointed Jose Jimenez as a math teacher, effective Aug. 1 at a step 1, C & T/I II Master/M. EQU salary.
• Appointed Rhina Rivera as a science teacher, effective Aug. 1 at a step 1, C & T/I II Master/M. EQU salary.
• Appointed Jo Lynn Gazo as an academic instructional aide, effective Aug. 21 at a step 1 salary.
• Approved Donna McClain as a retroactive Summer Career Academy instructor at a rate of $30 per hour, and van driver at $25 per hour. The van driver pay will be funded by the Perkins Grant.
• Approved payment of $800 to Sue Ann Gerhard for attendance as chaperone at the SkillsUSA National Competition in Atlanta, from June 23-28.
• Approved a joint operating committee secretary annual stipend of $2,000, effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.
• Appointed Joseph L. Krushinsky Jr. as an adult education GED instructor at a rate of $24 per hour on an as-needed basis through July 2026.
• Appointed Michele Connors as the school safety and security coordinator.
