Concourse Club donates to butterfly sanctuary

The Concourse Club of Palmerton recently presented a $100 donation to the Bear Mountain Butterfly Sanctuary as part of its ongoing commitment to conservation in the community.

Each year the conservation committee selects a recipient for the donation. This year’s donation was presented by Susan Prout, committee chairperson, to Sarah Rosenberger.

The Bear Mountain Butterfly Sanctuary is an educational place exploring the life cycles of butterflies and more. The sanctuary raises and releases butterflies native to our area, such as monarchs and painted ladies.

Additionally, the sanctuary houses a reptile room, videos, puzzles and activities for all ages. There is a gift shop and an outdoor picnic area for those who wish to make a day of it. For more information, go to the website www.bearmountainbutterflies.com.

The Concourse Club is a women’s civic organization which has been based in Palmerton since 1915.
