Lehighton Area School District’s board of directors approved the following items Monday night:
• Zones of Regulation program for middle school behavioral interventionists.
• Dependent Verification Services Agreement with ClearTrack HR LLC for the Pennsylvania School Health Insurance Consortium.
• Water treatment contracts with The Tustin Group for the Elementary Center at $3,206 per quarter and the Middle School at $3,781 per quarter.
• Purchase of a Kubota RTV with accessories from Sourcewell for $34,180.36.
• Installation of a Telecor eSeries Intercommunication System by Berkshire Systems Group LLC at four district buildings for $93,045.
• High school Anatomy & Physiology textbooks from McGraw Hill for $15,993.78, including six-year digital access.
• High school Environmental Science textbooks from Cengage/National Geographic for $22,652, including six-year digital access.
• High school Physics, Biology and Chemistry textbooks from Pearson for $39,478.50, including six-year online subscriptions.
• High school U.S. History textbooks from Savvas for $14,159.25, including a five-year online subscription.
• Investment of $2.8 million in capital improvement funds and $2.8 million in general funds with PLGIT to maximize interest earnings.
• Purchase of three Cisco Meraki refurbished switches for $5,541.34 from the technology budget.
• Purchase of PowerSchool Document Delivery for $3,182.07 for the first year.
• Purchase of Canvas through Instructure for $14,712 from the technology budget.
• Payment of bills totaling $343,682.15 for the 2024-25 school year and $3,174,395.17 for the 2025-26 school year.
• Job descriptions for a lead network analyst and a homeless liaison.
• Extracurricular stipends: High school debate adviser and FBLA co-adviser, Kevin Kotch, $1,800 each; Scholastic scrimmage, Kevin Kotch, $1,500; elementary center yearbook adviser, $2,200, Ben Tkach
• Hiring of new staff: Hannah Daly, middle school counselor, $55,835, master’s degree, Step 1; Justine Helman, third grade teacher, $57,385, bachelor’s degree, Step 5; Jessica Cericola, academic interventionist, $53,035, bachelor’s degree, Step 1; Laura Filchner, third grade teacher, $53,035, bachelor’s degree, Step 1; Conner Grabfelder, third grade teacher, $53,035, bachelor’s degree, Step 1; Jennifer Grima, academic interventionist, $53,035, bachelor’s degree, Step 1; Heather Mullen, family consumer science teacher, $54,035, bachelor’s degree, Step 2; and Kianna Cederberg, second-year mentor for Mullen, $37 per hour for up to 10 hours.
• Professional development: Up to seven elementary center staff to attend LETRS training at a cost not to exceed $3,500; and employee to attend drafting legally defensible IEPs training at a cost not to exceed $750.
• First reading of policies on nondiscrimination, graduation requirements and sponsorship agreements.
• Agreements with CLIU 21 for Title I and Title III services for 2025-26.
• Approval of ATSI Non-Title I School Plan for 2025-26.
• Approval of 2025-26 student/parent handbooks for all district schools and programs.
• Approval of resource guides including McKinney-Vento, home education and therapy dog policies.
• Agreements with Pathstone for family development services.
• Addition of an extra therapy dog to the district program.
• High school enrichment journeys for clubs and academic groups.
• School enrichment trips to Yenser’s Tree Farm, America on Wheels, Martin Guitars, Jim Thorpe Jail and Fighter’s Heaven.
• Approval of Frog Street as the pre-K curriculum for $6,641.59, including professional development, to be paid from the pre-K Counts budget.
• Disposal of surplus property including science textbooks and materials.
• 2025-26 secondary evacuation location memorandum of understanding and related agreements.
