The Carbon County Solid Waste Authority is back in business.
In a state of enforced limbo since opponents of the sanitary landfill concept buried it back on Sept. 23, 1981, the county agency went back to work Wednesday night with a new approach — the incineration method — hoping to use facilities at the New Jersey Zinc Company plant in Palmerton in the burning process.
The authority also has a new chairman in the person of Marvin Bray, Palmerton, succeeding Harold Rabenold of Lehighton.
Other officers are Stanley Zwolenik, Lansford, vice chairman, and Mayor Michael Hichok, Jim Thorpe, secretary-treasurer. The fifth member of the board is Glenn Claypoole, Lehighton.
